General Therapy Questions

  • If emotional, behavioural, or psychological difficulties are affecting your daily life, relationships, or work, or if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unable to resolve a concern on your own, professional input can be beneficial. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support; reaching out early can be helpful and meaningful, preventing issues from becoming entrenched, and helping you to decide whether therapy is the right fit.

  • Your initial assessment session will focus on understanding what’s brought you to therapy and understand your current concerns. Collaboratively, you and the mental health professional will begin to develop a shared understanding of your needs and identify a therapeutic approach tailored to you.

  • The duration of therapy varies depending on your goals and the nature of your difficulties. Some individuals benefit from brief, focused work, while others may engage in longer-term therapy. Your clinician will discuss this with you during the early stages of your work together.

  • Yes. Therapy is not limited to those with a clinical diagnosis. Many people seek support to better understand themselves, manage stress, navigate life changes, improve relationships, or explore their identity. Therapy can be helpful at any stage of life and for a wide range of reasons, even if you’re simply feeling stuck or seeking to gain clarity during times of uncertainty.

  • After your session, you will have a clearer understanding of your child’s needs and the best way to support them. You’ll receive expert recommendations for next steps, which may include follow-up sessions, therapy packages, or other support options tailored to your child and family’s needs.

  • It’s completely natural to wonder whether your child’s struggles are part of typical development or something that may benefit from support. Many children experience emotional ups and downs, but if these difficulties persist, intensify, or begin to affect daily life at home, school, or in relationships, professional support can be helpful and make a meaningful difference. Common signs include low mood, anxiety, difficulty regulating emotions, behavioural changes, school refusal, or challenges following major life events like loss, or transitions. You don’t have to be certain, our consultation call offers a safe space to explore what’s going on and whether therapy is appropriate.

  • Our psychologists work with a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns. These may include anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, school stress or refusal, bereavement, life transitions, trauma, neurodivergence, and sensory processing needs, and questions around identity or self-esteem. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach, each child is seen as an individual with their own story, culture, and strengths.

  • Parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting a child’s therapeutic journey. The level of involvement depends on the child’s age, developmental stage, and the nature of their difficulties.

  • Yes, with your consent, we can collaborate with schools, GPs, or other professionals involved in your child’s care. This may include sharing feedback, attending meetings, or supporting transitions. Working across systems often helps ensure consistency and can strengthen the support your child receives beyond therapy.

Professionals &Organisations

  • Reflective practice is a structured, facilitated process that provides professionals and teams with a safe space to pause, explore challenges, and consider their work in new ways. It is not therapy but a professional development approach shown to enhance emotional regulation, strengthen collaboration, and foster psychologically safe environments. It also supports clearer decision-making, improved problem-solving, stronger leadership capacity, and healthier workplace cultures, all of which contribute to sustained performance and organisational effectiveness.

At REST, reflective practice is available across all sectors including education, healthcare, business, tech, the creative industries, and leadership, offering dedicated time to reflect on professional identity, practice, and the systems in which you work.

  • Clinical supervision is a formal, structured process in which trained supervisors support practitioners through case discussions, ethical reflection, and clinical decision-making. It ensures accountability, safeguards quality of care, and promotes professional development.

  • What are Immersion Workshops?

Immersions are short, high-impact workshops designed to address real-world challenges professionals and organisations face. They combine psychological insight with practical tools to shift awareness and open capacity for change and are delivered as structured sessions or bespoke, co-created experiences.

  • Programmes are long-form, structured trainings designed to consolidate learning, embed resilience into the daily rhythm of organisations, and move beyond awareness-raising to create sustained cultural and systemic transformation. They are tailored to transform practice at individual, team, and organisational levels.
